The First Time I Spoke with Gina I Knew We Were a Match!
I received an email from Gina at the end of 2018 asking if I could photograph her wedding and that she loved my work. At the time I was in Houston, TX with my big sister who was undergoing medical treatment at MD Anderson. Gina and I emailed back and forth until we finally found a time to talk over the phone. I took time out of waiting rooms and doctor’s visits for a phone call. As soon as I heard her voice and their story I sensed a connection.
Gina and Chaz share a deep love for nature and the outdoors, and with both being environmental consultants that made perfect sense. But there was something else that made me just fall in love with Gina, she shared that she was a week away from doing a blind kidney donation. I burst in joy at her story given that I was getting tested to be a bone marrow match for my sister. I was in awe and admiration of Gina’s generous spirit. When Gina, Chaz and I met in person during Christmastime in Richmond I knew we were a perfect match.
Gina and Chaz’s wedding was one of those magical days in Richmond spring. The sky was overcast but the colors were vibrant. We began the day at the fabulous Linden Row Inn and finished at the stunning Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. The day was full of laughter, humor, and love. Gina and Chaz’s family and friends were some of the most loving people I’ve met while photographing weddings.
